In September of last year, ACORN still had offices in Missouri. They shared them with SEIU Local 899, but more important, the offices were paid for by federal and city funding given to ACORN Housing. The mixing of this money and these accounts led to a lawsuit and the dissolution of ACORN Housing in St Louis, which ultimately led to the closing of the office. Without federal funds, ACORN couldn't keep its offices. This played out across the country. So now the ACORN people were without office space, but meeting space seems to not be a problem.
When ACORN died - when in the words of Jeff Ordower (former ACORN Midwest Honcho), "ACORN was assassinated," the local parasites just changed names and organizations, forming something called Missourians Organizing for Reform and Empowerment. In addition to working with GRO out of Columbia, and taking money to work as petition blockers for the earning tax initiative, ACORN now apparently is sitting down with Russ Carnahan to do some phonebanking and plan some corporate sabotage
