Ray George, the son of Harrisburg Mayor Linda D. Thompson, will stand trial on assault charges, but a felony rape count, the most serious charge against him, was withdrawn when George waived his preliminary hearing in front of District Judge Joseph S. Lindsey this morning.
George, 31, of the 3100 block of Union Deposit Road in Susquehanna Township, is accused of attacking a woman in her Lower Paxton Township apartment on Jan. 24, according to police. Lower Paxton Township police said George was an acquaintance of the woman.
Share Although the rape charge was withdrawn, George still faces trial on charges of indecent assault, simple assault and criminal mischief. His formal arraignment on the remaining charges is set for July 8 in Dauphin County Court.
