The New York Times willingly could care less about your rights within the U.S. Constitution.  The New York Times had a first page editorial, the last time was 1920, and it was about you turning in your guns and giving up your rights under the Constitution. You can imagine the Islamic Radical Jihadists praising the New York Times and the Obama progressive socialist democratic centralized government, the infidels are breaking their own Constitution, the war is on.  The Islamic Muslim Radicals in time will deliver a death blow to America and will kill thousands, most likely tens of thousands of citizens.  The Islamic Radicals want to kill Americans, the more the better, but Barack Obama, John Kerry, Hillary Clinton, Jeb Bush, Marco Rubio only wants power and influence as they will never protect you or your family. If you have a Mosque in your neighborhood, create a neighborhood watch and start writing down license plate numbers for your local police department and the F.B.I..  If you own a hardware store, watch what Muslims are buying.  Where do you buy pipe bomb materials?  Who sold them the goods and the thousands of rounds of ammunition.  Pay attention.

It is not necessary to debate the peculiar wording of the Second Amendment. No right is unlimited and immune from reasonable regulation.

Certain kinds of weapons, like the slightly modified combat rifles used in California, and certain kinds of ammunition, must be outlawed for civilian ownership. It is possible to define those guns in a clear and effective way and, yes, it would require Americans who own those kinds of weapons to give them up for the good of their fellow citizens.
